Meister Cheese Set to Expand Processing Facility, Double Production
Plant expansion will increase demand for locally-produced milk, grow local economy
MUSCODA, Wis. – Meister Cheese today announced it will expand its specialty cheese plant and double processing capacity to meet increasing product demand from new and current customers. Construction is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
Meister Cheese currently employs 59 full-time employees and produces cheese seven days a week. The 14,000 sq. ft. expansion will allow for increased production for a growing list of new customers, many of whom are interested in new cheeses made from Meister’s "A Triple F", or "Animal Friendly Family Farms" program. The program is a partnership with Scenic Central Milk Producers, and recognizes premium, high quality milk produced using ethical and sustainable methods by Wisconsin dairy farms.
Once complete, the expansion will allow Meister Cheese to process a growing amount of milk sourced from farms approved through the “A Triple F” program. Dairy farmers participating in the program agree to a rigid set of principles and are audited by Meister Cheese to ensure compliance.
"We are excited to be a part of a growing company and community, and are especially excited this expansion will lead to more demand for milk produced on local dairy farms," said CEO Scott Meister. The company chose to stay local with the project, selecting Midwest Builders of Fennimore as general contractor and Community First Bank for financing. The majority of sub-contractors are located within southwest Wisconsin to keep dollars in the local economy.
